Compost Pails That Don’t Smell

Should I purchase a compost pail for my kitchen? What type of compost pail should I buy?

Many people, especially those who are new to composting, want to know the best way to collect organic materials in the kitchen without leaving an unsightly, odiferous mess. This question from Yahoo Answers is an example of that.

I’m looking for something that hangs under my sink on a cupboard door, that I can bring outside when it’s full. Any ideas of who makes one?

There are so many options. One good option is this Ceramic Compost Pail. There is a video about it on this blog post.

  1. It's just me:

use an old ice cream bucket with a lid on it and a handle. that way you are recycling in other ways too.

I use a small bathroom garbage can with a hinged lid. The inside can comes out to take it outside and can be washed and with the lid on it, there's no smell. It looks just like this

We use a little green composter with a carbon filter. It hangs on screws and doesn't smell. We can put it in the dishwasher as well. We like it!
PS says Busch Systems on the bottom –
    Hope that helps!

If you're putting it in a cupboard, it doesn't need to be decorative. I use a plastic Folgers coffee container with the lid.
